Leaked BMW M3 Order Guide Paints An Expensive Picture For 2026

After some nervous anticipation due to the tariffs, BMW’s pricing guide for the 2026 model year M3 has found its way onto the Bimmerpost forum, leaking the new model year pricing with some bad news for potential buyers. A BMW M3 will be $78,400 if it comes through a standard port of entry to the US, while the M3 Competition will start at $82,600, and the M3 Competition xDrive at $87,700. The 2025 model BMW M3 starts at $76,700, which is an increase of $1,700 for the 2026 model year, and the same increase applies to each version of the M3. While not as big of a jump in price, it’s not as immediately aggressive as we feared.

We Can Help You Justify The Cost Of A 2026 BMW M3

In 2015, the BMW M3 pricing guide started the M3 at $62,000. That’s a rise in price over ten years of $16,400 for an M3. Surprisingly, if the M3 had followed the 35.3% cumulative rate of inflation over the past ten years in the US, the M3’s price would start this year at $83,915 – $1,315 more than the new price. So, if you’ve been thinking about getting a new one, it’s actually less expensive than it should be. You’re welcome.

In our market, the longroof M5 is experiencing greater demand than the four-door sedan.

Other than the base price, not much has changed for the 2026 model year as far as we can tell. There are a few option changes, but not that many will notice. It looks like a 2025 model BMW M3 is worth snapping up. Even with the price hike for the 2026 model year, we would say the base M3 is still a bit of a performance bargain.

But We Can’t Help You Justify A 2026 BMW M3

The 2022 model year BMW M3 started at $69,900. Four model years later, it’s $78,400. So, a big chunk of that inflation has happened in short order. Also in 2022, the M3 xDrive started at $76,900. Three years later, it’s $87,700. That’s an increase of $10,800 in three years. While not a Porsche level of price increase, that’s steep, to say the least. The standard M3 may be a bargain, but BMW is making it harder and harder to recommend the xDrive version. It may have improved dramatically over a short period of time, but not $10,800 worth if you’re picking it up because you have to deal with slippery roads in the winter. The M3 Competition was $72,800 for 2022, and will cost $82,600 for the 2026 version.

You Should Probably Still Buy That M3

If you have the disposable income, the M3’s price increase still hurts. However, it’s still worth trying to snap up a 2025 model or eat the extra cost of a 2026 when it arrives. The M3 is destined to go hybrid, and given how that bulked up the M5, we’re not excited. That’s not to say the M5 isn’t great, but we’re not convinced added weight and power will benefit the M3. Right now, 473 horsepower in the basic M3 is plenty.
