- Some high-mileage cars are built so well, they’re more trustworthy than newer models.
- The Toyota Land Cruiser remains a fan favorite, even with 200,000-plus miles showing.
- Even humble Honda Accords often surpass that threshold with routine maintenance alone.
There’s something oddly reassuring about a car that’s been around the block, literally. Sure, the new car smell is great, and there’s peace of mind when one is under warranty, but sometimes, high mileage is a badge of honor. That brings us to today’s question of the day: what’s one car you’d buy with over 200,000 miles and still sleep soundly at night?

For plenty of drivers here in the US and abroad, there is an obvious answer. The Toyota Land Cruiser, especially in its older versions, is a no-brainer. They’re engineered like military equipment; overbuilt, under-stressed, and nearly impossible to kill. Recent generations even come with lots of luxury equipment too.
A clean 100- or 200-Series model with 200k on the clock is basically still in its prime, provided someone changed the fluids on time. It’s not uncommon to see these trading hands for big money with 300k or more miles on them. Another rock-solid choice comes from the related brand Lexus in the form of the LS400 and LS430.
These super-robust sedans basically helped put Lexus on the map. The 430 comes with a 4.3-liter V8 known for being powerful, quiet, and reliable. The automatic gearbox is smooth and usually problem-free, too. These, like the Land Cruiser, are known for seriously high mileage when well cared for.
Maybe, though, you want to go a little simpler. The Honda Accord, especially the super-basic four-cylinder models from the 2000s and even the 2010s, deserves your attention. The 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine is a model of efficiency and longevity. These family sedans and coupes are still all over the place, serving as daily drivers, many comfortably above our 200k threshold. Of course, there’s one car we can’t really avoid talking about here.

Nothing says American reliability (or at the very least, cheap and easy to keep running) like the humble Ford Crown Victoria. If there’s any vehicle worthy of being called an indestructible American icon, it’s this one. It survived decades as the go-to cop car and taxi across the USA. The 4.6-liter modular V8 under the hood, automatic gearbox, and body-on-frame construction made it basically unkillable.
So now we ask you: what car would you trust with 200,000+ miles? Would you go with one of these proven warriors, or is there another high-mileage hero you swear by? Let us know in the comments and tell us why.
