Why Wait For The New Prelude When This 998-Mile Gem Could Be Yours Right Now?

  • A fourth-generation Honda Prelude Si in pristine condition is now listed for $45,000.
  • Originally sold in Pennsylvania, this model remained with one owner for over 30 years.
  • The well-preserved Prelude has only covered 998 miles since it left the factory floor.

A new generation of the Honda Prelude is on its way to dealerships later this year, but it seems nostalgia is driving just as much interest as innovation. Prices for older models of the Japanese coupe are climbing fast. One such example we came across is a 1993 Honda Prelude Si in showroom condition, with just 998 miles (1,606 km) on the clock, currently listed for $45,000.

This particular example is a fourth-generation Prelude, finished in Milano Red with Gray cloth upholstery. It first popped up on Bring a Trailer back in February 2025, where it sold for $40,000. Just a few months and 3 miles (5 km) later, it’s back on the market, now with a $5,000 markup. Apparently, some sellers are more into flipping classics than driving them.

A Garage Queen from Day One

According to the previous listing, the car was originally purchased new in Pennsylvania and remained with the same owner from 1992 until 2024. Everything about the car’s condition, from the exterior and interior, to mechanical, points to a life spent indoors. It’s clear the original owner wasn’t commuting in this Prelude. They were preserving it for the next owner.

On the outside, the Honda remains completely stock. It still wears its original 15-inch alloy wheels and features the dual tailpipes that were standard at the time. The paint, plastic trim, and lighting components all look like they’ve barely aged, giving the impression this car hasn’t seen much more than showroom lighting since the early ’90s.

The interior tells a similar story. There’s no visible wear, and all the original features are intact. Standard equipment from the era includes bucket seats, a cassette player, power windows and locks, a power sunroof, cruise control, and air conditioning.

Under the hood of the Honda Prelude Si lies a naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 156 lb-ft (212 Nm) of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through a transaxle five-speed manual gearbox, which definitely adds to the appeal.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};

} else {

}
});

The Prelude recently received a full service, which included replacing the timing belt, water pump, accessory belts, valve cover gasket, and battery. Fresh coolant and engine oil were also added. The listing claims the engine and underbody show “absolutely zero corrosion or signs of aging,” which, based on the photos, seems believable.

For anyone tempted by the idea of owning a nearly untouched slice of 1990s Japanese automotive history, the Honda Prelude Si is currently up for sale on Cars.com, with the seller offering nationwide delivery. The only question is whether you’d spend $45,000 on a 33-year-old Prelude, or hold out for the new generation arriving later this year.
