- Police in Arkansas had to PIT a Kia driver twice before they could stop him.
- It turns out just about everything associated with him driving was illegal.
- ASP dashcam captured the entire wild chase, including both PIT maneuvers.
Running from the Arkansas State Police is certainly not a genius idea. Even the few folks who do get away sometimes end up caught after the fact. In a recent high-speed chase just outside of West Memphis, a Kia driver learned their lesson the hard way. ASP troopers used the PIT maneuver not once, but twice, to get their man.

According to the video description, the chase began near the Arkansas-Tennessee border. An officer reportedly noticed a Kia with an expired registration sticker as it passed by. Whether that was the actual reason for the stop is unclear, but the trooper quickly caught up with the vehicle and attempted to pull it over.

Not only did the Kia driver not stop, they changed lanes without signaling, and then took off, with the officer initiating a chase. As the cars crested above 100 mph (160 km/h), the trooper moved in for the PIT and made contact at 109 mph (175 km/h). The Kia spun clockwise and presumably smashed into the concrete barrier. That’s evident from the hood being up the next time we see it.
Trooper Byrd made another attempt to block the driver, but the Kia continued, now barreling down the highway with the hood obstructing the view. What the driver was thinking is unclear, but his escape attempt was ultimately futile.
In any case, the ASP trooper has an even easier time using the PIT maneuver the second time. The Kia spins out again and smashes into the wall, where it stops for good. The driver gets out and casually walks back to the officers as though nothing has happened. He allegedly said that he was trying to reach his injured daughter. Regardless of his reasoning, he’s facing a slew of serious charges now.
Police arrested and booked him into jail for felony fleeing, driving on a revoked license, driving without up-to-date registration, no insurance, and resisting arrest. Let it be known: if ASP doesn’t get you after one PIT, they’ll try again.
