Key Takeaways

  • Tuthill Porsche teases something special for Monterey Car Week.
  • The mystery vehicle will be unveiled on August 16.
  • It’s likely to be restomod with differences from the previously launched 911K.

Tuthill Porsche, the renowned Porsche restomod specialist, is coming to Monterey Car Week with something very special. The UK-based firm shared a teaser via its LinkedIn account, with a photo of a freshly restored Porsche 911K being loaded into a trailer.

But that’s not the build Tuthill is teasing. Accompanying the picture is a caption that reads, “The 911K is locked and loaded for Monterey Car Week, but this year it’s not traveling alone… We’d recommend popping the 16th [of] August into your calendars; we have an announcement to make!”

Tuthill Porsche

Tuthill Porsche is run by hardcore 911 enthusiasts who value the raw ferocity of air-cooled Porsches. Its name was built in the trying world of rally, but these days, it also works on other race cars and, more recently, astonishingly high-revving restomods of the famous Neuenelfer.

Tuthill Is An Expert, So This Will Be Good

Like the very best teasers, this one has us twiddling our thumbs and racking our brains – what could it be? The word ‘special’ is overused, but Tuthill is responsible for truly extraordinary builds. The 911K seen here is no exception, so if the restomod specialist feels the need to keep its unnamed build under wraps, it must be extra special.

There’s no word yet on what it could be, but Tuthill Porsche doesn’t just do restomods. The company is heavily involved in classic and historic racing, so we could see a special motorsport-inspired build to take on an arduous rally event. Then again, it could be a restomod in the same vein as the 911K or the 993-generation 911 RSK it revealed earlier this year.

Plenty More To Look Forward To At Monterey Car Week

Aside from a full body restoration, the 993 was equipped with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine with four valves per cylinder. Tuthill’s cylinder heads for this build were derived from the 911K, which allowed it to reach high rev limits, albeit not as stratospheric as 11,000 rpm. Aside from that, the car was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rubber, adjustable dampers, and an upgraded anti-roll bar. There are also billet brake calipers with carbon-ceramic discs.

The rally specialist could give Singer a run for its money with this magnificent build.

We’ll have to wait until August 16 for the full reveal. Monterey Car Week promises to be thrilling; the new Lamborghini Huracán successor will be unveiled on the same day, while Pininfarina plans to unveil a one-off creation built for a special customer. The incredible Nilu hypercar will also make its public debut, while Honda will showcase an incredible retro concept that has never been seen on American soil before, and these are just a few of the amazing machines to be revealed and exhibited. That’s why this is the finest auto show on the planet .
